NEW E-BOOK EDITION

The Courageous Follower (3rd edition) is among the first 200 electronic publications selected and converted for sale directly from  Berrett-Koehler’s website. It is offered at 30% less than the new, paperback edition. According to the publisher:

Print books are far from disappearing, but we anticipate that a sizeable segment of the market that had been buying print books previously will now begin consuming electronic content instead.  We have good reasons to expect this shift to be especially swift and dramatic within some of Berrett-Koehler’s core reader communities, such as training and education . . . The Millennial generation is demonstrating a strong preference for digital formats, and professors are increasingly migrating to digital course content.  E-books are “getting them while they’re young.” Moreover, e-books can be “read” in audio form on many home computers, a valuable service to readers with visual impairments. E-books also help us all move toward more sustainable, eco-friendly practices.

FINDING  GOOD HOMES FOR THE LAST COPIES OF  THE COURAGEOUS FOLLOWER,  SECOND EDITION

Now that the 3rd edition of The Courageous Follower: Standing Up To and For Our Leaders is in bookstores, the 2nd edition is officially out of print. For the next few months, the publisher, Berrett Koehler, is willing to let me direct the remaining stocks to worthy international organizations for $3 per copy plus shipping.

I have already arranged for the National Democratic Institute to take 200 copies for use in their programs in Africa and elsewhere. The material in the book, regarding how  leaders can use power beneficially without abusing it, struck a chord when I traveled in Africa for NDI. Getting more copies into the hands of other parliamentarians, government officials and NGO staff has the potential to make an impact on the need for ethical leadership in emerging democracies.

Do you know of other organizations that could make use of this book within their ranks or amongst the communities they serve? I am particularly interested in organizations in the developing world where English is used as one of the languages of government and commerce. Community-based organizations in the US who cannot  afford to pay market rates for the new edition are also of interest. I will not receive any royalties on these sales and am willing to pay the costs for domestic shipping if needed. This is a mission-driven initiative.

I look forward to hearing from you if you have ties to organizations that fit these profiles and are willing to make the introduction. For other organizations with which you are affiliated, please spread the word about the new 3rd edition with its brand new chapter, “The Courage to Speak to the Hierarchy!”
